Spanish lessons are on, we covered regular and irregular verbs in the first day, we're not learning espanol however, we're learning castellano. Pretenos have their own way of speaking and it will probably be necessary to re-learn the whole language if I ever want to talk to someone from Spain.
Before heading to our new school we went to lunch at the uber-popular Marc's Deli. Unable to score a seat on the outdoor terrace we headed inside and ordered off the chalkboard. They serve a variety of sandwiches and salads, attempting to serve a cuisine called "norteamericana." Drumm's sandwich was ok, the bread was less than exemplary, my spinach salad was solid but uninspiring. In the end I liked the space, my lemonade was delicious, and the food nothing special.
After class, and a futbol champions league bonanza, it was time to eat again. We planned on checking out La Cabrera's sister restaurant but there was a line. Being from New York, i do not believe in waiting on lines. There's always somewhere else you can go. This time, that somewhere else was Lo de Jesus, an Argentine restaurant.
Matt drumm does not like his meat rare, he likes it raw. The less they can cook it before they bring it to him the happier he is. While I was making my way through a solid, if unspectacular, rib-eye cooked "a punto," Drumm was ooing and awing over two extremely rare veal steaks. The veal was tender and delicious, though the lack of cooking made it too chewy for my personal liking. The sides were terrific, an excellent rendition of creamed spinach and sweetish potato fries. The wine we washed it all down with was tasty, a Navarro Correa Cabernet Sauvignon Gran Riserva 2001.
After dinner we headed out on the town, hitting a handful of bars in Palermo Viejo including the pleasant rooftop terrace at El Diamonte. Word of advice for people drinking in BA, stay away from the cocktails, too much sugar in everything and not enough booze. Stick to the booze served straight on top of ice.
As always, for photos (mostly fisheye) head to drummland.

what kind of sandwiches did you eat?
i would never trust a place called
"Marc's Deli" - they probably only serve rare roast beef on a roll, with a sprinkling of salt, maybe a little pepper, and NOTHING ELSE.
i didn't even bother with a sandwich there. drumm had one that he said was ok, but that the bread was entirely sub-par.
